Meet the Team

Emily MacIver, MACP, RP
Clinical Director, Owner
For as long as I can remember, I have been a helper. I have always been drawn to helping and supporting those around me who are in need. I started out my professional journey as a helper by obtaining an Honors Bachelor's degree in Psychology, and a certificate in Communication Disorder Assisting where I spent six years working with and supporting children who have behavioural, developmental and speech needs. I went back to school to earn my Master's in Counselling Psychology so that I could not only support at the individual level but at the family and couples level as well.
From an evidenced based cognitive behavioral approach that integrates both emotion focused therapy and narrative therapy, I work to support individuals, couples and families with an individualized and collaborative approach to overcoming struggles with anger management, grief/loss, eating disorders, relationship issues, low self-esteem as well as emotional distress such as anxiety and depression.
When not working or studying, you will find me outdoors, running, playing baseball, hockey or skiing with my family. It is my children and my husband who inspire and motivate me each day to stay true to my values, beliefs and to continue my journey toward self-awareness.

Life can get difficult. We can find ourselves holding the weight of thoughts and feelings, neglecting our boundaries, or not being able to communicate our needs. But we all have one thing in common, we hold the power to begin the conversation, to sit in the uncomfortable, to foster the opportunity for growth.
Throughout my life I’ve always been drawn to supporting others in need. Naturally my educational pursuits reflected this purpose, as I began my professional career working with children and individuals with diverse developmental needs. This continued interest for understanding human development was perused by obtaining a Honors Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, as well as a Master’s in Counselling Psychology.
I strive to support individuals through a collaborative approach with the goal of achieving self compassion, and the development of strategies for recognizing and changing maladaptive patterns. This Person-Centered framework integrates solution focused and narrative therapies with the goal of supporting clients in gaining a better self-awareness in effort to overcome struggles with; relationship issues, self-esteem, grief/loss, stress, behavioural issues, as well as emotional distress such as anxiety or depression.
I look forward to embarking with you on this journey.
